How much does it cost to hire a DJ in Sydney?
Sydney DJ hire typically ranges from $900 to $2,500+ depending on event length, equipment, MC services and any add-ons. Wedding DJ packages tend to sit at the higher end because they involve more hours and a more complex run sheet — usually $1,500-$2,500 for a 6-8 hour reception. Birthday and corporate DJ hire generally starts lower for shorter events. We provide a written custom quote based on your specific requirements rather than fixed package pricing — get in touch with your event details for an exact figure.
How far in advance should I book a Sydney DJ?
For weddings, 6-12 months is typical. Saturdays during peak season (October through April) book out fast in Sydney and the Southern Highlands, so the earlier the better. For birthdays, corporate events and engagement parties, 2-4 months is usually enough. We sometimes have last-minute availability — it's always worth asking, even on short notice.
Do you offer MC hire as well as DJing?
Yes. We offer DJ-only, MC-only, or DJ+MC packages. Our MCs are bilingual (Greek and English), trained in run-sheet management, comfortable with formal speeches and informal banter, and experienced at keeping the energy where it needs to be at each phase of the event. Most clients book DJ+MC as a package because the cost saving is significant compared to hiring two separate suppliers.
What areas of Sydney do you cover?
All of Sydney metro, plus Wollongong, the Southern Highlands and the Hunter Valley. We can travel further for larger events — get in touch with your venue location and we'll confirm whether travel costs apply.
Can I provide a song list or do-not-play list?
Both, and we strongly encourage it. The pre-event consultation is where we build out your music preferences, must-play tracks, special moments (first dance, parents' dance, cake cut) and anything you want avoided. The DJ reads the room on the night — but your list is the foundation we work from.
What equipment do you bring?
Professional DJ controllers, a sound system sized to your venue, two wireless microphones, basic dancefloor lighting and a complete backup setup in case anything fails. We can scale up with additional speakers, subwoofers, lighting rigs and special effects (cold sparks, CO₂ jets, smoke machines, dry ice) depending on your event and venue.
Are you insured?
Yes. JJK Entertainment carries public liability insurance covering all DJs at all events, and our equipment is PAT-tested annually. Most reputable Sydney venues require both — we provide certificates on request, no fuss.
